![]() ![]() ![]() Another good feature about InDesign CC is that you have this favorite fonts feature. So if you typed condensed light, it would show you the same ones, so you don't have to worry about which order those go in. And by the way, I noticed that you could do it, in reverse too. And then if you type, condensed, now I just have Abadi, American Typewriter, and Avenir, have light condensed. So, if you type in, light, that's really nice, a way to see all of your fonts that have a light version of them. I'm not going to do that, but one thing I did use today, in fact, was I was looking for a light condensed font. So, if I wanted to search for every bold font that I had, which would be kind of insane, but I could just type bold, and In Design will list all of the bold fonts. Another thing is notice that they are also including the styles in this drop down menu. So if I wanted to search for myriad, if I typed yr, suddenly it jumps right to myriad pro condensed. Now, in earlier versions, you could always type the first few letters, but now, you can type any letters that appear anywhere in there. You see this? If you want to search for a font, you can just start typing any letters in the font name. But one of my favorite things that they've added to CC is this little search field up here. And some of the tips that I'll mention also have to do with earlier versions of InDesign. I want to talk about some new ways in InDesign CC that you can use to quickly locate your fonts. Here in InDesign I'm going to click on the drop down menu for the fonts. But it's just unbearably slow for me right now.If you're like me, you have thousands of fonts loaded at any one time, whether you're using a font management program or not. If RightFont could fix the performance issues, I'd easily upgrade this to a four-star review. It constantly either says "no fonts to display" or fails to alter the screen when you make changes, leaving you to think nothing has happened or will happen when it has and it will. (Weirdly, it seems like this is specifically limited to the library view when in "all fonts" view it goes faster, which is counterintuitive, but ultimately unhelpful, since the whole point is filtering.)Īlso, the UI is pretty questionable there's no loading state indicating that the app is working in the background, which is bad for an app that does as much work in the background as this one does. It's literally faster for me to navigate through the fonts in Finder than it is to go through my library in this app. In any case, I have a large font library, and literally every action-from scrolling to right clicking-takes several seconds, brings up the rainbow spinner, and sends my modern MacBook Pro's fans into overdrive. I suspect it may have switched to Electron under the hood and that's what's causing the problem, but that's just a hunch. RightFont *used* to work great a version or two ago.
